When will the CIA 2025 exam changes take effect?
The updated CIA exam will launch in English on May 28, 2025.
Can I still take the exam under the 2019 syllabus?
Yes. Candidates can take the CIA exam under the current (2019) syllabus until May 27, 2025. After this date, only the 2025 version will be available.
What if I’ve already passed some parts before May 28, 2025?
If you pass one or two parts before the transition, you can still complete the remaining parts under the 2019 syllabus until May 27, 2025. After that, any remaining parts must be taken under the 2025 syllabus. The content will be different, so it’s best to plan accordingly.
What are the updated retake rules?
The retake waiting period is now reduced from 60 to 30 days between attempts, giving candidates faster opportunities to reattempt any failed sections.
Is eligibility changing for the CIA exam?
The core eligibility requirements remain the same. There is no change in the eligibility .
Will the exam be harder after the 2025 changes?
The difficulty level is expected to remain consistent, but the topics are more aligned with modern audit practices and the Global Internal Audit Standards. This means a shift in emphasis, especially in ethics, fraud, and IT risks, rather than an increase in difficulty.
